A multi 6-figure service provider.
I started this journey by accident.
With 3 failed businesses under my belt by 20 and still a uni student in the UK...
I was desperate to make it as an entrepreneur & experience real time, money & location freedom
So I set out to learn the skill I thought would get me there: sales
But as I became a sales rep and began working with small business owners, I realized most of them didn’t have their sh*t together when it came to operations
So by necessity, I started helping those I worked with their operations, systems, hiring & automating their business
With my first client, I went from sales rep to operations manager to COO, doubling their business from $400k to $800k in a year
The next began signing $20,000 deals like nothing thanks to streamlining their sales process
The third saved over $11,000 in profit from one look inside their business & balance sheets
I realized I was on to something… so I set out to create my own operations business called The Systems Boss

Last year, I’d wake up at 7am, immediately open my laptop and scratch my brain for inspiration for a tiktok video
After writing the script, I’d painstakingly record, edit & post on my tiktok with a caption, then do some watermark voodoo sh*t so I could post on IG & FB without them knowing I posted It on tiktok
Next, I’d come up with some marketing sequence to post on my IG story
Clear my DMs and then begin the treacherous task of finding NEW people to DM, reply to their story, & find some authentic but not-so-authentic way of “getting them into my world”
Where I’d proceed to have hundreds of conversations with people just “curious” or just fishing for free info
Not to mention, half of the time they were broke, or I wasn’t talking to the real decision maker
Being an operations + systems person at heart, the inefficiency of spending 6-8hrs every day making content or in my inbox with little to show for it was driving me insane
I’m the type of person that will strategically engineer a process to give me the best result in the shortest amount of time, then delegate & keep optimizing it
But this “organic” marketing thing was getting in my way
Having been the COO & Fractional COO for dozens of online companies, I know only too well the pitfalls of delegating too soon
And if you want to get results when you delegate your DMs & content, you first need to be getting good results from it yourself
Now it’s not like I was getting NO results, but clients were very few & far between - I could hardly call it “consistent”
So after banging my head against the wall for the thousandth time, I asked myself “why isn’t this working???!!”
I knew plenty of people had a lot of success on social media, so why wasn’t I having success like them?
I discovered it came down to these 3 things...
TIME
The people having big success on social media started years ago, before selling on social media became as common as Starbucks pink drinks.
That’s not to say you can’t be successful if you start now, it just means it takes time to build an audience that trusts you & will consistently buy from you
IDEAL CLIENT
If you look, the people that have the most success on social media serve 2 groups:
1)the general consumer public, and 2) 9-5ers interested in starting their own business or have just started their business.
It isn’t usually those that serve business owners, especially business owners of $1,000,000/year+ businesses...
Which is who I, and most freelancers & service providers serve (especially if you want to earn the big bucks).
These people are very hard to nail down on social media.
PAID ADS
Contrary to what your favorite guru might tell you...
Those winning big on socials are usually using some form of paid ad, or they’ve worked out a strategy to consistently go viral with their content.
And if they’re not, you can bet they’ve been posting consistently for years
To make things worse:
I didn't have the luxury of waiting years till my social media became consistent
I didn't want to rely on the unpredictable flow of referrals from my network anymore
Since my ideal client isn't someone I can easily contact through an IG DM, running ads meant I would just lose money instead of make it
I was getting to break point.
BUT Something HAD to change, I couldn't cope with not knowing when or where my next client would come from any longer...
So I began to think...
Where are all the entrepreneurs, that are already pretty successful & take their business seriously, hiring service providers to help them solve problems?
I went down a google rabbit hole
Interrogated some of my entrepreneur friends...
And the resounding answer was:
UPWORK
I was kinda in denial of this answer at first
Dismissing Upwork as the place people go when they want a VA for $5-15/hr
Where service providers don’t value themselves…
And clients are constantly looking for the cheapest deal, not giving two f*cks about quality
Isn’t it just a game of price wars?
How on earth was I gonna find my high-value clients on there??
But the more digging I did, it became undeniable.
I’d heard of social media managers signing $4,000/month retainers from Upwork with nothing more than a proposal & 1 sales call
Systems geeks earning $8,000 fees for setting up onboarding automations, CRMs & project management tools
Financial consultants earning $3,000/month like it was nothing
Okay… I said, I’ve got to take this seriously.
And I did.
I put my ego aside.
I took everything I’d learned from 3 years in business, being the COO of 7-figure sales training & recruitment business
